Go Portland Tech
From GoPortlandTech
[edit] What is go?
Go, sometimes said to be the intersection of math and poetry, is an ancient Chinese game (weichi in Chinese, baduk in Korean, igo in Japanese) with both incredible beauty, and really interesting technical problems (the best computer go software on the best hardware is only about as good as the best human amateurs). There are active go club meetings Tuesdays at Powells (6PM), Saturday at Lucky Lab Brew Pub (1PM), Wednesday at Bamboo Grove (7PM), (which day?) at Lewis & Clark, and one Sunday per month in the Chinese garden. We also hosted the 2008 US Go Congress.
[edit] Portland Tech
Those of us in Portland know that it's a great city for tech startups and tech culture. We have Ignite Portland, Beer and Blog, Lunch 2.0, (add more here), etc. However, people outside Portland sometimes think of us as a flyover city, with most investments happening in the Silicon Valley or Seattle.
[edit] Go Portland Tech
Go Portland Tech combines go and the tech community to both grow the body of go players and strengthen connections in the Portland Tech community. Go Portland Tech is not only one more reason for tech folks to move to Portland, but can be another place for innovation to flourish, for companies to get started, and most of all, another place for tech folks to have a good time.
